Where to Eat?
Baked at Ancora, Tweed Heads
Just a two-minute drive from us at the marina, you’ll find Baked at Ancora. A Parisian inspired waterside café where sweet treats and picnics go hand in hand. This café is a pastry lover’s dream and was inspired by their love for a French croissant. With a selection of sweet and savoury treats, gourmet sandwiches and delicious coffee, Baked will hit the sweet spot and makes the perfect location to wait until you’re ready to board your houseboat! Cubby Bakehouse, Chinderah
As you sail south along the Tweed River you’ll pass by the town of Chinderah where you’ll find the local favourite, Cubby Bakehouse. Cubby is the sister café to the iconic Gold Coast café, Custard Canteen. With its cottage style garden that overlooks the Tweed River, it’s a must do! Enjoy an all-day brunch, hot cinnamon doughnuts, gooey cookies and delicious banh mi rolls as you pit stop along the river. Visit Cubby Bakehouse.
Get Hooked Seafood, Tweed Heads
You can’t miss our neighbours on the marina, Get Hooked Seafood for fish and chips. Locally owned and operated since 1997 they provide some of the best seafood in the region. With local mud crabs, sand crabs, whiting, jewfish, mullet, bream and flathead caught from the Tweed River. Fish and chips and a day on the water, can you name a more iconic duo? Scales Seafood, Tweed Heads
Just around the corner from us on Kennedy Drive is another local favourite seafood market. Scales is a multi-award winner for the best fish and chips in the region. With their motto, ‘Fresh is Best’, you’ll be spoilt for choice with their range of local prawns, fish, crabs, mussels, bugs, scallops and oysters. Visit Scales Seafood.
House of Gabriel, Tumbulgum
As you set sail south, you’ll discover the historic town of Tumbulgum where you’ll find the charming House of Gabriel. You’ll have picturesque views of Mount Warning and the Border Ranges as your backdrop as you dine on fresh, seasonal and wholesome produce. Ivory Waterside, Tweed Heads
Located just around the corner from us at the marina is our local favourite Tweed Heads watering hole. With 180-degree views overlooking the Terranora Creek it’s the perfect location for a cold beer or cocktail with great company. Visit Ivory Waterside.
Chinderah Tavern, Chinderah
Just next door to Cubby Bakehouse you’ll find the Chindy Tav. Serving cold beers for 36 years it’s no wonder it has become a local meeting spot. With an expansive shaded deck overlooking the picturesque Tweed River, a sports bar and a hearty pub menu it’s the place to be to sink a schooner. Visit Chinderah Tavern.
Tumbulgum Tavern, Tumbulgum
Located a short stroll down from House of Gabriel is the Tumby Tavern. Watch the stunning views of the Tweed River and dine inside or outside with alfresco dining. Husk, Tumbulgum
Another treasure located at Tumbulgum is Husk Distillery. As you journey south along the river, you’ll find Husk nestled on a cattle farm amongst the cane fields with the backdrop of Mt Warning. With their vision to create a farm to bottle rum they quickly expanded to gin and the country fell in love with their famous Ink Gin.
